8/3/22 Journal: Let’s Get It

Today’s the day.

I’ve had this picture in my head of what a normal, productive day should look like. The kind of day that, if I followed the same routine every time, would lead me to accomplishing all my goals. I’d get some exercise in, I’d work on my book, I’d update this blog, I’d make progress in originating and closing mortgage loans, and I’d get some quality time in with my wife and kids. I’d go to bed and sleep well, knowing I put in 100% effort in everything.

I’ve written ad nauseum about all the illness I’ve suffered through lately, and while it was all valid, it also operated as a crutch for me. An excuse for why I haven’t performed to my potential in any of the important aspects of my life. I can’t exercise while I’m fighting this infection! I can’t make phone calls while I’m coughing up a lung!

But today, I feel pretty good. If you’ve ever had Covid–and if you haven’t, you will–you know the cough sticks around a while. But other than that, for the first time in two and a half months, I feel top notch.

Today is going to be a great day.
